The Mentoring Initiative
The current rate of individuals who are in practice five years after receiving their Masters degree has fallen to 50%. Considering that many individuals pay close to $80,000 to receive this degree in the first place, that's quite an alarming statistic.
Having the opportunity to read your responses to our Spring Survey, as well as connecting with individuals in the community, including just this past week at our last community fire, we've found that many newly licensed acupuncturists feel unsupported as they make the transition from student to professional. The general consensus is that there are not enough courses in the graduate school programs to help them understand the process of running a business, and that often, the process of establishing a practice is lonely and frustrating.
It's hard to bring the medicine to the people, when you don't know how to get the people to come to you.
Over the past few months, Rootdown has been in dialogue with Cynthia Pasciuto of True North Business Consulting. She is an attorney, insurance broker, and educator in Massachusetts. Cynthia works with health and wellness practitioners on the business side of their practice, and has also taught at the New England School of Acupuncture. We've recently forged into a partnership with her that will focus exclusively on helping LAc's to effectively grow their practice - the Mentoring Initiative.
In the same philosophy of our website - which is created for the community and shaped by the community's experience and knowledge, we're connecting with our members to see where they need support in order to flourish and thrive in today's health care industry. Currently, Cynthia is looking to connect with individuals who can help to shape the direction of the program, so that it meets the needs of the overall community. And as such, we're asking for your participation and feedback. If you would be interested in helping to shape this program (and your future) simply email us at info@rootdown.us.
