This past weekend I was given the opportunity to spend some time at the Venice EcoFest, here in California, with a group of inspired students and practitioners of Chinese Medicine - known as One World Health Project.
If you're a subscriber to our Podcast Series on iTunes, you may have heard the podcast that was released this past Friday by them. Several of the members were given the opportunity to introduce themselves and the foundation of this nonprofit organization.
In their words, "One World Health Project is an educational and serviced-based organization dedicated to improving the health of people with limited economic resources by compassionately promoting Alternative Medicine to regional health care officials, while educating individuals in the techniques of self-care.
OWHP as an organization, mimics a root and branch relationship. With its local and international efforts, OWHP nourishes the core of it’s message."
How are they doing this? Well, they currently have two projects in the works. The first is to become certified trainers with the PanAfrican Acupuncture Project so that they can teach healthcare workers in Africa how to use acupuncture protocols to address the symptoms of HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB, and the likes. And the second is to develop a sustainable, replicable, curriculum that can be taught locally at elementary schools that covers aspects of health including eating organically, in season, and helps them to recognize the effects of emotions on physical wellness.
Rootdown.us is partnering with OWHP in recognition of a need for a larger dialogue within the community about health and wellness, including the opportunity to empower the individual and to connect them back to nature. It is our hopes that our partnership with OWHP will cultivate this dialogue, and that our technological platform will provide a home to their educational materials and foster support from the Asian Medicine community as well.
In the meantime, consider supporting OWHP's mission by visiting their site and donating to their cause. I'm certain you, as we have, will see the brilliance and inspiration of what they've created and how it can help to bring us all into balance.
